In this special edition episode of Podparks, we are joined live by Luis Rohman, CEO of World Urban Parks, Brenton Grear, Director of Green Adelaide and John Senior, Chair of the Annual Conference Committee of Parks and Leisure Australia, to talk all about this year’s 2023 Joint International Congress Hosted By World Urban Parks And Parks And Leisure Australia, Supported By Green Adelaide.
This year’s global parks congress will be held next October 22 to 25, 2023 in Adelaide Australia. The congress theme is Sustainable Places: Spaces, People and Habitats, which, as Luis and John discuss, are pressing topics not only to the work of World Urban Parks and Parks and Leisure Australia, but to urban communities as a whole.
As host city, Adelaide is proud to have recently been announced a National Park City, making it Australia’s first and the world’s second city of this type. Brenton dives deep into the political and structural meaning that this announcement has on green space management at Adelaide, and how congress attendees will get a chance to see iconic parks in action.
Last, the guests discuss the current Call for Proposals for the congress, which was recently extended until May 19th. JIC2023 is looking for diverse and honest experiences to share through presentations, workshops or panel discussions in any of the 8 congress streams.
