The Parks & Gardens of Dublin by Christy Boylan
Book launch 4th September 2024
Ireland’s maritime climate, along with its rich history of demesnes, has fostered the creation of significant gardens that hold both artistic heritage and diverse plant collections from around the globe. This book chronicles the history and evolution of over 150 parks and gardens in Dublin, each with its own unique story.
From the vast expanse of Phoenix Park to the smallest pocket park surrounding the statue of Anne Devlin in Rathfarnham Village, Dublin’s tradition of developing public parks is noteworthy. This legacy was celebrated with the World Parks Congress in 2007. Dublin’s park managers stay aligned with global trends, actively participating in the World Urban Parks organization, ensuring that the city’s parks are both modern in design and reflective of their historical roots.
