The Governance Committee has been very active over the last twelve months with it driving the appointment processes for the Secretariat and the CEO along with improving financial reporting and continuing development the WUP policy framework. We have also developed a number of key supporting strategies such as the Financial and Revenue Strategy and a Membership Strategy.
One of the key Strategic Directions identified is the need for us to improve our membership management, which requires the implementation of a comprehensive management system. After carefully considering the various packages available, we have resolved to adopt the iMIS20 membership database system. This system will significantly improve the service provided to members in such areas as events management, social media integration, communications, establishment of private communities, private discussion boards, employment boards etc. The system will facilitate overall improved member self-service including renewals process and member communications. Using this software, WUP will also be able to establish a new and much improved website. This initiative represents a major upgrade that will benefit us all.
Direct Benefits for our Members:
- Allow members to join or renew memberships online, manage their own profiles, and view purchase history.
- The Website will be totally integrated with Membership management and will use modern technology that will enable the content to be kept up to date.
- Create multiple communities — each with its own security settings, discussion forums, document libraries, wikis, and blogs.
Direct Benefits for World Urban Parks and protecting our Members:
The new system will meet international requirements and industry standards that we haven’t achieved before:
- Scalability and Reliability
- Data Security and PCI Compliance
- Technology Standards
- Extendibility and Openness
- Mobile Capability
The CEO and Secretariat are now finalising the purchasing of this software with implementation starting very soon. It is expected that the transition to the new system will occur over the next 3-4 months and that you will, therefore, very quickly see the benefits this will deliver. It is an improvement we are excited about and that cannot come fast enough.
As you can see from the above, the past 12 months has been a particularly busy period for the Governance Committee but we will not slow down. There are many other initiatives we have on our agenda going forward that will continue the development of WUP and the enhancement of the services provided to members.
